Vaud Buildings Programme: subsidies, a user’s guide
The Buildings Programme supports energy renovations. The most common pitfall is administrative: an application filed too late means losing the grant.
What is subsidised
- Thermal insulation of the envelope (façade, roof, walls, floor against ground), with a bonus if it is combined with a photovoltaic installation.
- Heating replacement: air/water or ground/water heat pump, wood heating, connection to a district heating network, solar thermal collectors.
- Full renovation in a single phase, with a Minergie or CECB certificate: grants can reach up to 30% of the investment.
- Studies and support, including the CECB Plus.
The rules not to miss
- No subsidy if the works have already started: the application must be approved before they begin.
- Grants are limited to the available annual budget.
- Replacing windows alone is not subsidised.
- Payment is made after a notice of completion of works has been validated on the portal.
- For a building constructed before 1991, a full asbestos survey is required for works subject to a permit.
For 2026, the rates for certain insulation measures are slightly reduced and the ceiling applies per measure rather than per building. The exact amounts are given in the official document on eligibility conditions.
Why the schedule is part of the budget
A subsidy is secured only at the end of a sequence: study, application, approval, works, notice of completion. The project programme must respect this from the outset. This is management work, not merely a technical matter.
Key takeawayFiling the application before breaking ground and grouping measures together are the two habits that protect a subsidy.
